Visited and Observed Home Care at Re:Life Home Nursing and Helper Station.
On May 14, we visited Re:Life Home Nursing and Helper Station, a non-profit organization (Rehabilitation Village) in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and accompanied them on a home visit for nursing care.
This station specializes in providing home care for individuals with spinal cord injuries, making it the first of its kind in Japan to support patients with spinal cord injuries at home rather than in medical institutions or care facilities.
We had the opportunity to speak with the director, Dr. Kohei Kawamura (Certified Occupational Therapist, Nurse), and visited a patient’s home, where we were able to observe the care and daily life of individuals with spinal cord injuries.
Additionally, we were impressed by how the patients expertly used electric wheelchairs, which provided valuable insights from the perspective of wheelchair development. We are truly grateful for this experience.
The photos were taken and published with the individual’s permission.
